Geplaatst in NewsFlash, Urban Studies.

This is a call-up for student mentors! Would you like to become a mentor in the coming year (2020-2021) and help first year students with your knowledge and experience? Read further:

What is the mentor programme?

The BA Urban Studies has a specifically designed mentor programme for 1st year students in order to welcome them properly and to guide them through their first semesters of university in The Hague.

What is a student mentor?

A student mentor is a coming 2nd or 3rd year student who is capable of guiding our new students. As a student mentor you will commit to the following:

  1. Attend a student mentor training session in the last week of August 2020;
  2. Guide mentor group of 1styear students during the Introduction Day in September
  3. After Introduction Days: keeping track of 1styear students;
  4. Attend 2 general lectures on study skills and presentation skills with your mentor group;
  5. Host several student mentor group sessions yourself
  6. Make a short report

Why would you want to become a mentor?

Well, it will mean you will get educational experience and free mentor training. Also, it is really fun to pass on knowledge that you gained as a first year student! See it as a challenge; maybe you can do better than what has been done in previous years? It will be exciting to be part of the new online coaching, and we would be very interested to see how can you contribute, and learn something from it.

Last but not least: you will earn money with it. You will get paid as student assistant, according to the collective labour agreement of Dutch universities.
